Notre Dame’s newest program in Ireland is located in Galway City on Ireland’s west coast. Galway is the fourth largest city in the Republic of Ireland, and has a population of approximately 80,000 people. Galway hosts a rich cultural heritage and is home to several arts festivals, literary festivals, theatre companies, traditional Irish musicians, and Irish language groups. The City is an ideal base from which to explore the west of Ireland, as it is within easy driving distance to the Cliffs of Moher, the Burren, the Aran Islands, Connemara, and Notre Dame Kylemore. While studying abroad, students will be taken on cultural excursions to these locations to learn about the culture, archaeology, and history of the West of Ireland.
