Venture to the West of Ireland for a unique experience during one of our weekend sojourns-ideal for those seeking an escape and an emergence from COVID-19 in a creative, mindful, and invigorating environment. These weekend breaks include enjoying the breathtaking Connemara landscape, communing with others and tasting the local cuisine. These weekend adventures will offer the participant the unique opportunity to stay in a unique setting, with insight into local attractions which involve hiking, writing or hill walking.
The weekend includes two residential nights (ensuite bedrooms) and three days, complete with resident experts, all meals prepared by our in-house chef from locally sourced producers. Join us for a completely new and unique experience.
Centering Prayer Retreat
This silent retreat offers the retreatant a deep immersion in the silence of Centering Prayer and will feature DVD’s of Fr. Thomas Keating to aide in the journey. The retreat will be enhanced by the unique opportunity to live in community with the Benedictine sisters who reside at Kylemore.
Walking Ancient Ireland Trails with Michael Gibbons
Join local archaeologists Michael Gibbons for a 3 day exploration of Connemara and its surroundings. Dive into the local history feet-first through guided hikes, famine walks, visits to archaeological sites, and storytelling. Then, return to the Kylemore Global Centre for a home-cooked dinner and fireside chats and music. Each of the four weekends includes en-suite accommodation (sharing or individually), all meals prepared by our in-house Chef with locally sourced ingredients (alcohol not included), and all hikes. Come for a weekend of exploration, learning, comradery, and lots of fun.
Naughton Family Foundation Scholars' Retreat
Since 2008, the Naughton Family Foundation has awarded scholarships to Irish students across all 32 counties to study Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics in Irish universities. The scholarship is intended as a reward and encouragement to exceptional students who would like to study in the STEM field at University.
To celebrate these scholars, encourage their professional development and build community, the Naughton Family hosts a yearly retreat weekend in the exceptional surroundings of the University of Notre Dame’s global site at Kylemore Abbey.
